My book of poetry, I Am Not An Igloo is on its way. I’m kind of looking forward to it.

I’ve collected up some of my favourite poems going back some ten-odd years. Plenty of them came from the old newsgroup, alt.life-sucks and others from various other roosts I’ve had over the years. It’s a personal collection, delving into the weird and the wacky. I’m quite proud.

Many were also word-patterns, as I like to think of them. Rhythms of words strung together more than a standard poem. Very stream of consciousness.

I was, therefore, very pleased to accidently surf into a page which had a link to small short story online which pretty much summed the kind of thing I like to read sometimes. Where you get thrilled by a savage little exploration of the wonder of the written word.

So, to share it with you, I have this link.

The site belongs to a Mister Kasey Klein and he’s got a bit of advice on his site which is of interest. I love the philosophy on what to cut, and what to chop out of a sentence to really make it pop, and it brings to mind a great deal of advice written on writing pulp fiction, or hardboiled crime. I love these styles of writing. They’re like old friends which you have to ring up now and then to be reminded of what you’ve left behind.

It is my firm belief that, one day, this genre will pop back into vogue. And so it should. The sheer imagery in these genres is explosive and sharp. It slices through your mind like the flickering cells of old film. It’s got pace. It’s got verve. It’s got heart.

And that’s often a hard thing to find these days.
